POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Walker School is seeking a candidate for a part-time Upper School Spanish position who is passionate about teaching and working with students and who models a love of Spanish language and culture. Strong candidates are those who teach with creativity and innovation, who are excellent at collaborating, who model empathy and curiosity, who embrace student-centered classrooms and discussion, and who strive to meaningfully connect with their students. The teaching load is three sections and total student contacts are between 40 and 60. We welcome candidates who also have experience and interest in teaching French.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

The ideal candidate has experience teaching across multiple levels and can deliver instruction featuring extensive input in a comprehensible manner while maintaining a low-anxiety environment. The candidate must also be open to feedback and improvement, modeling lifelong learning of practice as well as the subject area. The Walker World Language curriculum is based on the ACTFL Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century and the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. By incorporating ACTFL's three modes of communication (interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational), the World Language Department enables students to advance along the continuum of proficiency.
