POSITION DESCRIPTION

Walker seeks an energetic and dedicated individual for a Middle School Learning Specialist.. The Middle School Learning Specialist works in collaboration with teaching staff to support students with learning differences and students who are having academic difficulty and may need to consider psychoeducational testing. They will also serve as an advocate for students with diagnosed learning differences and work with them to create education plans to best leverage available resources for their academic success.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

The ideal candidate will be an energetic, compassionate, self-starter who embraces the opportunity to nurture students in fulfilling their abundant potential. The Middle School Learning Specialist will be able to hone their knowledge and experience instructing neurodiverse learners while simultaneously participating in a larger school community and expanding their own professional growth through collaboration with the Walker faculty at large. The ideal candidate will have formal training and experience with age and skill-appropriate teaching methodologies for students.

The ideal candidate must possess a Master’s degree or higher in special education or learning disabilities.
