Associate Director of Development

Position Title: Associate Director of Development

Reports to: Director of Development

Employment Status: Full Time 12 Months

FLSA Classification: Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Walker School is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as the Associate Director of Development. In this role, you will be responsible for helping to lead and execute our organization's fundraising strategies and initiatives. You will work closely with the Director of Development to develop and implement comprehensive plans to secure funding and support for our mission. As the Associate Director of Development, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships with donors, managing fundraising campaigns, and overseeing donor stewardship activities.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

  • Proven track record in fundraising, preferably within a nonprofit organization

  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals and targets

  • Experience in managing fundraising campaigns and events

  • Proficiency in donor management software and other relevant tools

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and implement fundraising strategies and initiatives

  • Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring continuous engagement and stewardship

  • Develop and manage fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, online giving, and special events

  • Identify and research potential funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and individual donors

  • Prepare and submit grant proposals and reports, ensuring compliance with funder requirements

  • Track and report on fundraising metrics and progress towards goals

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective coordination of fundraising efforts

  • Assist with donor communications and recognition activities

  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in fundraising and donor engagement

  • Represent the organization at networking events, conferences, and community meetings

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • Proven track record in fundraising, preferably within a nonprofit organization
