POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Lower School Extended Day Program (EDP) Assistant is one who loves children and provides a safe, nurturing, warm, fun-filled after-school environment for the participants. The candidate will lead age-appropriate activities ranging from homework assistance, arts and crafts, playground/sports, games, computers, and more. The EDP Assistant will work collaboratively with the EDP Director and School Administration to promote the mission of The Walker School. The EDP Assistant should model ethical and professional behavior, have a positive attitude, accept personal responsibility for their actions, and demonstrate a commitment to the school, its mission, and its policies. This position has variable hours between 2 pm and 6 pm daily. EDP “camp” days may begin earlier (planning days, professional days, parent conferences, etc.)

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and proven success as a childcare provider. The candidate will exhibit strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution qualities.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, eligible to work in the US, and hold a work permit, if applicable. All candidates will be required to pass a background screening.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to bend and stoop to interact with children at their eye level.
